To qualify for the certificate, a student must successfully complete four credit units in the general area of Business and Public Policy chosen from the list below. One of these courses should be at the Law School and one must be in the Business and Public Policy Department at the Wharton School. Two other courses are expected to be chosen from Wharton electives (courses not in the Wharton core), and from undersubscribed courses with seats available after the Wharton MBA auction is complete.
I. Law School Courses
The Law School courses include:
Administrative Law
Labor Law
Environmental Law
Law and Politics
Public International Law
Regulated Industries
II. Wharton Courses
The Wharton courses include:
At least one credit unit from the Business and Public Policy Department
The other two credit units are expected to be
Wharton electives (not in the Wharton core)
Undersubscribed (availability after Wharton auction is complete)
Faculty may require some "disciplinary" background (such as Economics) for enrollment in the course
All four courses toward the certificate must be taken for a letter grade. Pass/Fail is not an option.
The Business and Public Policy department has reserved spaces for law students in each of its elective courses. These spaces are assigned by the Law School. To enroll in courses in other departments, law students must wait until non-Wharton registration occurs, which takes place about a week after classes start.
Students may attend classes in the interim.
